Rehabilitation Services
Living Community of St. Joseph offers skilled rehabilitation therapies covered under the Medicare A benefit as well as outpatient therapies for residents living in their Independent Living, Assisted Living apartments and Long Term Care covered under the Medicare B benefit. Therapies include Physical, Occupational and Speech.
Physical Therapy
Physical therapy supports diagnosis and management of movement dysfunction and physical abilities using some of the following techniques:
- Therapeutic Exercises
- Strengthening/Endurance Programs
- Manual Therapy/Soft Tissue Techniques/Massage
- Gait Training
- Equipment and Prosthetic Training
- Balance Assessments and Training
- Body Mechanics and Posture Training
- Restorative and Maintenance Programs
- Thermal and Electrical Modalities
- Home Exercise Programs
Occupational Therapy
Occupational Therapy provides skilled evaluation and treatment to maximize independence in daily activities or function. These services promote quality of life and self-sufficiency, and help individuals to remain within their own home environment using the following techniques:
Speech Therapy
Speech Therapy provides intervention to enhance or restore communication and swallowing skills effected by the following:
- Language Comprehension, Word-Finding and Verbal Expression
- Swallowing
- Cognitive Needs
- Articulation
- Voice Conservation and Rehabilitation
- Reading and Writing
- Accent Reduction
- Fluency
A Physician's referral is required for all of the above therapies.
