Join us in sharing the “Aloha” spirit

Although the week-long National Nursing Home celebration was closed on May 17th, the memories created through many fun moments will last for a long time in the lives of our residents and staff members. A sushi demo on campus sponsored by Sakura Japanese House made the highlight of the week when many of the residents and staff sampled the food art for the first time. Through the sharing of foods and experiences, the true Aloha spirit was vibrantly promoted. We appreciate Sakura Japanese House and the kitchen manager, Tommy Lin, for their generous contribution.

In addition to the sushi show, assorted themed activities and foods were also presented during the celebrations. You are invited to check them out on our Facebook page, and provide your ideas for our celebration next year!

St. Benedict's Feast Day Celebration

To honor and celebrate the Feast Day of St. Benedict's on March 21st, every year, we create an art piece to reflect on the yearly focused Core Value, and share it with the community as a practical guide to the teaching of St. Benedict’s wisdom.

This year, we produced and distributed a pictured artwork centered “Hospitality.” We hope to share the calling of the Gospel of loving one another, and invite everyone to share the life with St. Benedict’s, where vibrant hospitality is experienced.

In addition, the recipient of Sr. Claudia Living A Legacy Award was announced on the same day. The award is designed by Benedictine Health System to recognize the employees in each facility who best exemplify St. Benedict’s Mission and Core Values daily at work. Join us in congratulating Marian Ringwall, our Assistant Chaplin, for receiving the honor this year, and thanking her for the tireless commitment to our residents over the past decade.

A Crabtastic Experience!

St. Benedict’s hosted its 2nd annual Crab Crack on the Prairie fundraising dinner event on Jan. 12, 2014. The event was fully sold out, and more than 300 guests attended for a “crabtastic” time. The social was followed by an abundant dinner feast composed of king crab legs, BBQ ribs, savory side dishes, and assorted choices of beer, hard cider, and dessert bars. Accompanying the feast was delightful musical entertainment and fun paddle games. We look forward to serving you a good time again next year on Jan. 18, 2015. But remember, seats are limited, contact us right away when you receive the invitation! For sponsorships, we encourage you to beat the bush and make a reservation with us now to secure the primary marketing opportunities!

A big thanks to our 2014 event sponsors, donors, volunteers, committee members, 4th Degree Knights and Ladies of Columbus, Elks Lodge (Executive Chef, Ray Veverka), Jerome Distributing, and all of the attending guests.
